A vital part of
our ongoing youthwork programme is organising international
youth exchanges for young people. These exchanges enable
the YMCA to promote issues of citizenship and develop different
types of work to facilitate the needs of young people in Body,
Mind and Spirit.
Aberdeen YMCA
first engaged in international youth exchanges in 1993 when
Aberdeen's Mike Will and Berlin's Wolfgang Raich initiated an
exchange between the Scottish and German YMCAs following an
earlier visit, in 1989, by Mike to Berlin. Exchanges,
sponsored by the British Council, have continued since.

In 1994 we
established links with the YMCA in Regensburg, Germany.
Regensburg is a twin city of the city council in Aberdeen.
Sponsored by Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen YMCA and CVJM
Regensburg have been able to participate in annual exchanges
since. Click here for further info on this partnership:

German culture and history and understand something about this
amazing city and its role in modern history. The Youth
Exchange is
designed to facilitate youth mobility within Europe through an
interactive programme of sport, arts & craft, outdoor
activities, tourism, games and music.
