Your actions TODAY will transform the
lives of thousands of young people TOMORROW. Together we can give them the chance to build a
better future for themselves and their communities.
The money we receive through bequests will help ensure that
young children, youths and others in Aberdeen will benefit from
Christian outreach to those in need - a generation that, otherwise, may never hear it. Your legacy will help us to plan and implement
our vital projects. With your support our work will continue to
benefit young people in Aberdeen for many years to
come. Our work could not continue without the help of such
supporters.
Many people opt to leave a legacy in their Will for
organisations that they have sympathy with, a generous act
indeed. Leaving a legacy to the YMCA is an ideal way of
passing on the maximum benefits of your estate as it will be
entirely free of inheritance tax. As a Charity, Aberdeen
YMCA is reliant on voluntary contributions to continue our work.
By including us in your will you can have the satisfaction that
thousands of young people in need will
benefit from your precious gift through our vital work.
Every year Aberdeen YMCA helps many disadvantaged young people in some of the poorest
parts of the city to overcome the enormous difficulties they face in
their lives. However, there are still many young
people who are in desperate need of our help; many live in
appalling conditions on the streets and have to deal with issues unknown to previous
generations from homelessness, drug addiction, rising youth unemployment,
loneliness, boredom, rejection and isolation. Many
young people are often without the comfort of their families or
friends and with no one to turn to there is little hope for
their future. By including a legacy to Aberdeen YMCA in
your Will you can help us reach out to these young people before
it is too late for them.
It might sound morbid, but it is a matter of being practical and
listing out what assets and debts you have, taking into account
savings, property, shares, bonds, loans, debts and antiques and
trying to consider anything of value. There are different ways to make a bequest
and people choose to do different things when making a Will. The most important thing
is to ensure that you do make a Will and appoint executors to your
estate that will ensure that your wishes are actioned.
Some people may leave a bequest to Aberdeen YMCA which is a
stated monetary amount. Others make sure that their
families and friends are considered first before Aberdeen YMCA
receives anything, usually the balance of their assets after
they are sold.
Please consider leaving a
legacy to Aberdeen YMCA today:
Leaving a legacy to Aberdeen YMCA is an
easy process and there are three simple steps that you can
follow to ensure that your wishes are followed.
1.
Contact your local solicitor.
A solicitor will formalise the process. Recommendations
are always a good benchmark or contact the Law Society. Your nearest
Citizens Advice Bureau will be able to recommend one for you. A
solicitor is essential to helping you make your Will and it can
cost as little as £50 to complete.
2. Before you meet your solicitor it is
advisable to have the following information ready. · A list of
all your assets · A list of any outstanding debts you may have ·
A list of the family, friends and charities that you would like
to include as beneficiaries in your Will.
3. You will need to decide how much
you would like to leave Aberdeen YMCA. A residuary gift is one
that covers a percentage or the entire residue of your estate. ie.: what is left over once funeral, testamentary expenses and
debts have been paid. · A pecuniary gift is one in which you
specify a fixed amount of money to leave to Aberdeen YMCA.
What happens if you've
already made your Will?:
If you have already made your Will and would now
like to include a legacy to Aberdeen YMCA in it, you can do
so by adding a Codicil. Again, your local solicitor will be able
to help you with this.
Please let us know:
We understand that making a Will is a private
process, but it would be very helpful to Aberdeen YMCA if
you could let us know if you intend to leave a gift to us in
your Will.
