WE APPRECIATE
the many people who bring the work of the YMCA before the Lord
in prayer. We know that your prayers make a difference
to our work. To encourage you to pray for our work we
suggest that you print out the prayer points below so that you
can pray alongside others for the grace of God to manifest
itself through the work of Aberdeen YMCA. You can use
the prayer points
for personal use, as part of
your house group, fellowship or prayer meetings.
Prayer
points:
Pray
and give thanks for the directors of Aberdeen YMCA who
volunteer their time, gifts and skills to serve the Lord in
YMCA work. Pray particularly for the Board of Directors
as they seek the Lord for a vision for a 3-5 year development
plan for 2008 - 2011/13 and the big projects that could be
part of this.
Pray and give thanks for
the developing relationship with Sheddocksley Baptist Church
and for the development of a 'Street Football Project' in
partnership with the Church due to begin in early 2008.
Pray that this detached youthwork project with unchurched
youth would reach the vulnerable teenagers who are involved in
anti-social behaviour in the community there.
Pray for YMCA personnel
who deliver YMCA programmes. Pray for their witness to
remain strong, pray for their spiritual protection, pray for
encouragments and blessing upon their various aspects of work.
Pray for meetings with
folks from Stockethill Church of Scotland, One Trust and Youth
for Christ and the possibility of developing 'Street Football
Project' there also.
Pray for development of
relationships with secondary schools and, in particular,
Northfield Academy and for YMCA work to provide teenagers with
"more choices and more chances" as part of the developing
curriculum for excellence.
Pray and give thanks for
150 years of YMCA work in Aberdeen in 2008. Pray for
150th anniversary of Aberdeen YMCA. Pray that this would
be a good opportunity for YMCA to reconnect with local
churches and vice-versa.
Pray for a forthcoming Ian
White concert in the Music Hall, Aberdeen as part of the 150th
Anniversary Celebrations. Pray that it would be a good
opportunity to reach others with the gospel and the YMCA work
in promoting this.
Pray and give thanks for
the volunteers who labour in the harvest field and pray for
the ongoing recruitment of new volunteers to undertake various
aspects of YMCA work (admin, gardening, childrens' work, youth
work, community work, street football, etc.)
Pray for YMCA
staffing/volunteering issues:
1. Pray for the
employment of a female sessional youthworker to work alongside
our full-time youthworker in outreach youthwork with young
people in Skene Terrace. Pray that the right person
would be identified and fill this important post.
2. Pray that we could
find a volunteer to take on the responsibility of writing our
quarterly newsletter and maintaining our website.
Pray for the work of YMCA
Scotland.
