A key strength of the voluntary sector is that it is operated by people who freely give of their time, ideas and energy.  We all have different skills, gifts and strengths which can easily be used in the YMCA to complement the work of our paid staff.

DIRECTORS (Trustee and Board member of Aberdeen YMCA)

• -  collectively responsible for the general control of Aberdeen YMCA

• -  safeguard the Christian ethos of Aberdeen YMCA as stated in the constitution.

• -  preparing Annual Report, Annual Accounts and Constitution

• -  careful control and management of YMCA's finances and budgets

• -  ensure that proper accounts are kept and governed by statutory regulations

• -  spending income to achieve the best overall purpose

• -  fundraising and securing future income

• -  management of staff and volunteers consistent with employment law

• -  ensuring health and safety legislation is implemented and adhered to

-  managing property and resources to comply with relevant legislation

CHILDRENS' WORKERS (outreach to young people aged 8-11)

• -  be a member of our Programme Team

YOUTH WORKERS (outreach to young people aged 12-25)

• - be a member of our Programme Team

CARETAKING (stewarding the buidling, car park and gardens of YMCA)

• - for those who have specific skills in maintenance, etc

FUNDRAISER (member of Friends of Aberdeen YMCA group)

SECRETARY

• - help put together our quarterly newsletter and prayer diary

PUBLICITY OFFICER

• - help raise the profile of Aberdeen YMCA
